Fribourg, June 23, 2026 – Recommerce now systematically provides a 24-month warranty instead of 12 months on all its refurbished devices, at no additional cost. Refurbished smartphones, MacBooks, and iPads therefore benefit from the same warranty period as new devices. This measure applies both to purchases made through Recommerce’s online store and to devices purchased from all of its distribution partners.

Devices End Up in Drawers Instead of Being Sold or Donated

The 6th edition of the Recommerce Barometer conducted by Kantar shows that, in Switzerland, too many devices end up forgotten in drawers: last year, 36% of mobile phones were kept “just in case” instead of being sold or donated.

“This represents lost value for the economy and a waste of resources for the environment. Every device given a second life helps preserve raw materials and keeps value creation within Switzerland,” says Jérôme Grandgirard, Managing Director DACH at Recommerce.

The barometer also shows that trust has become a decisive factor when purchasing a refurbished device. In Switzerland, 28% of consumers consider the warranty an important purchasing criterion, while 17% cite the quality of customer service.

This is precisely where the extended warranty comes into play. For customers, it removes the uncertainty that many have traditionally associated with refurbished devices. For retail partners, it means they can now offer refurbished devices with the same warranty period as new products.

Local Repair Rather Than Disposal

Recommerce is also expanding its service offering in Switzerland. Refurbished devices sold directly to Recommerce customers now come with a 30-day return policy. Warranty repairs are carried out locally at the company’s technical center in Steinhausen (Canton of Zug).

Whenever possible, Recommerce repairs devices in-house and focuses on replacing defective components rather than replacing entire products. This approach extends the lifespan of devices while preserving added value within Switzerland.
