Since its creation, RECOMMERCE GROUP anticipates market trends with innovative solutions. The optimization of our value chain (reverse logistic, testing, refurbishing, etc.) and the pricing algorithms of collected devices are the keypoints of R&D investments of our business.
Our performance is based on the integration of highly optimized tech softwares (pricing, switching, forecasting, reverse logistics engines…) created in house by a team of experts. Our innovative offerings are fueled by a dynamic management and established partners.
The Research and Development Program of Recommerce Group is focused on the following 5 main topics.
RECOMMERCE GROUP developed an extremely powerful tool used to calculate daily quotation of used electronic devices. Dozens of indicators gather everyday thousands of data from foreign and local markets as inputs in our system database.
Our dynamic pricing algorithms platform calculates on a daily basis buy-back prices and resale prices of several thousand references, thus guaranteeing service sustainability by focusing on micro-optimization that generates macro-optimization.
RECOMMERCE GROUP is at the crossroads between e-commerce and logistics. We invested heavily in precise and accurate forecasts for goods collection, workshop entrances and storage. Our model is based on algorithms developed by data scientists using indicator-based techniques -already proven in other domains- providing daily data to the various software bricks of our operational research.
Stores selling new products have to face issues linked to reverse logistics once they start buying back used devices. Our tool, helps managing the redemptions of used electronic devices in networks of stores selling new products.
Once bought back, the products need to be stored in boxes ad then shipped to the testing, cleaning and recycling center. The problem of this reverse logistic system resides in the strategic choice the shop has to make between shipping the boxes to the center for repair and which box not to repair.
Our bi-criterion optimization tool has been created to help reduce the logistics costs and the depreciation of fixed assets in the management of reverse logistics stocks. This tool was developed in partnership with the Rhone Alpes Region and with Professor Van Dat Cung from INPG.

An important research topic is the management of residual value risk linked to the new models of mobile phones offerings. Phone distribution modes are evolving and new rental models are emerging. These new models of distribution are based on a crucial factor: the residual value of the product.
To be able to calculate and forecast correctly the residual value of a good, the statistical models of Recommerce Solutions are based on automotive research and Big Data strategy by collecting data for 4 years on volumes, purchase prices and Resale of used phones. The strong fluctuations in the second-hand markets proves that research on futures must be instrumented and structured in order to minimize risks. With one billion smartphones marketed worldwide in 2013 and almost double the number of PCs and tablets, the market for leasing these electronic products is a growing market.

This optimization model aims at maximizing margins. It consists of making the right level of refurbishment to the corresponding goods as to transform the goods from a collection quality to the resale quality of its forecasted resale channel. Our optimization tool helps us driving efficiently our remanufacturing process which can face many issues due to the different quality levels of devices of the same batch and the different levels of repair for different resale channels of this same batch. Optimizing, following and organizing is the strength and the heart of this highly performing solution.
Many studies around production planning problems with remanufacturing options have been published as “The simplest single-product versions are NP-Difficiles», work in partnership with Professor Nabil Absi from Mines de Saint Etienne.
