Gentilly, June 17th 2025 - Recommerce© Group, historical European player in refurbished high-tech products, has acquired Verkaufen.ch, the leading Swiss provider in consumer device buyback, forward trade-in, and repair services for high-tech products. This strategic partnership marks a significant step in the consolidation of the European refurbishing market and strengthens Recommerce’s industrial and technological expertise.
Founded in 2009 with the mission of reducing electronic waste, Recommerce is a pioneer in the refurbishment sector in Europe. Today, the company operates in 12 countries, generates €180 million in annual revenue, and has refurbished more than 6 million devices, avoiding the emission of 300 000 tons of CO2 and the extraction of 924 000 tons of raw materials.
In 2014, Recommerce created RS Switzerland SA (Recommerce Swiss), opening its first international office in Switzerland in Fribourg. A specialist in smartphone trade-in, the company signed its first contract with Swiss national operator Swisscom. Committed to fostering a local circular economy, Recommerce Swiss collaborates with engaged local partners such as REALISE, a social enterprise based in Geneva, for its logistics and repair operations. Today, its products and services are distributed throughout Switzerland by a network of national partners, such as Swisscom, Digitec, Mediamarkt, Conforama, and Interdiscount.
Building on this successful international expansion, Recommerce Group is now present in 12 European countries, and has since made several acquisitions, including Fenix.eco in Romania to support growth in Eastern Europe and DealCertify, a technology platform offering automated smartphone testing.
This new acquisition of Verkaufen.ch, the commercial brand of Recommerce AG, further deepens Recommerce’s local presence in Switzerland and strengthens its position in the European refurbished market.
A strategic partnership for a comprehensive, locally anchored refurbishment offering
With this acquisition, Recommerce strengthens its presence in Switzerland and gains access to Verkaufen.ch’s unique expertise in multi-product repair (smartphones, smartwatches, PCs, MacBooks, etc.), powered by a team of 50 employees, including 30 technicians and repair specialists. Verkaufen.ch is also a certified partner of leading manufacturers like Apple and Samsung, ensuring high-quality standards across its value chain. The company already works with major players such as Sunrise, Interdiscount, and insurance provider Chubb.
Recommerce will also leverage Verkaufen.ch’s expertise in forward trade-in, an innovative model the Swiss company was among the first to introduce nearly two years ago. This knowledge will be scaled across the group to drive growth in this emerging service. Finally, Recommerce will benefit from the latest innovations in AI-based cosmetic testing and diagnostic tools, notably the inspection box developed by Verkaufen.ch.
These two companies have helped build the refurbishment market in Switzerland by creating jobs there. They share the same values of responsibility, innovation, and quality, as evidenced by their partnerships with companies strongly committed to the social, local, and circular loop. Today, Recommerce and Verkaufen.ch are joining forces to better serve their customers.
“Since 2009, our mission has been to promote the circular economy and democratize refurbishment. Switzerland was our first international venture back in 2014, and ten years later, we’re proud to see that we were right to invest in this market, which has also grown thanks to virtuous players like Verkaufen.ch. With this acquisition, we continue our momentum toward greater professionalization and market consolidation”, said Pierre-Etienne Roinat, Co-founder and President of Recommerce.
“We are delighted to acquire Verkaufen.ch, which will allow us to build even stronger relationships with major manufacturers like Apple and Samsung, strengthen our industrial expertise in repairs, and deliver unmatched quality in refurbished products”, said Augustin Becquet, CEO of Recommerce.
“We are excited to collaborate with the Recommerce teams to offer a broader range of services and solutions to Swiss consumers and further promote the circular economy. Our shared values and mutual ambition for more responsible consumption made this partnership a natural fit”, said Peter Oertlin, Founder of Verkaufen.ch.
